Walk-and-talk therapy is a therapeutic approach where sessions take place outdoors while walking side by side with your therapist. Instead of being confined to an office, we’ll explore safe, scenic locations where you can feel relaxed and grounded. Movement and conversation are seamlessly combined, creating an environment that encourages openness, reflection, and a sense of progress—both physically and emotionally.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by the demands of life, struggling with intense emotions, or seeking a new way to process past experiences, walk-and-talk therapy provides a meaningful path to growth and healing.
Walk-and-talk therapy offers a range of benefits that support emotional and physical well-being, including:
1. Safe and Scenic Locations
Our sessions take place at carefully selected locations in the Durham area, such as local parks or trails. These paths are safe, well-maintained, and provide a balance of privacy and accessibility.
2. Pacing That Works for You
Your comfort is our priority. Whether you prefer a slow, reflective walk or a more active pace, we’ll adjust to meet your needs.
3. Flexible Sessions
Walk-and-talk sessions are typically 50 minutes long, just like traditional therapy sessions. In case of inclement weather or physical limitations, we can seamlessly transition to virtual sessions.
4. Maintaining Confidentiality
While our sessions take place in public spaces, we’ll choose trails and parks that minimize distractions. If we encounter others, we can pause or adjust the conversation to maintain your privacy. and work toward healing.
I am a licensed psychologist with over a decade of experience helping adults create meaningful and lasting changes in their lives. As part of my practice, I offer Walk-and-Talk therapy—an opportunity to combine the benefits of evidence-based therapy with the restorative effects of being outdoors.
Walk-and-Talk therapy is ideal for clients who find it easier to open up while moving or who feel more grounded in nature. Whether we’re strolling through a local park or along a scenic trail, this approach allows us to engage in the same thoughtful, goal-oriented work as traditional therapy, while also incorporating movement and fresh air to support your emotional well-being.
You’re not just a diagnosis or a list of symptoms—you’re a whole person with unique values, strengths, and a story that deserves to be heard. I bring warmth, curiosity, and a non-judgmental attitude to our sessions, whether we’re sitting in an office or walking side by side. Together, we’ll work to create a life that feels more balanced, aligned, and connected to what truly matters most to you.
