Living with lipedema can be physically uncomfortable—but it can also take a real emotional toll.
If you’re living with lipedema, you may be carrying more than swelling, heaviness, pain, or body changes. You may also be carrying frustration, grief, shame, self-doubt, and the exhaustion of trying to manage something that often feels misunderstood.
Many people with lipedema have spent years feeling dismissed, confused, or blamed by professionals for symptoms that were never simply about “diet and exercise.”
You may be experiencing:
If so, you’re not alone.
Therapy can help you navigate the emotional impact of lipedema with more self-understanding, self-compassion, and support.
Lipedema can affect far more than your body. It can shape how you think, how you cope, and how you relate to yourself on a daily basis.
Together, we can work on:
My style is warm, practical, and evidence-based. I integrate CBT, ACT, mindfulness, and self-compassion approaches to help you feel more grounded, less reactive, and less at war with yourself.

As a licensed psychologist with PSYPACT® authorization, I offer Telehealth services to clients in North Carolina and over 40 additional states.
I specialize in helping high-achieving adults navigate anxiety, self-criticism, body image distress, and the emotional toll of living in a body that doesn’t always respond the way they expect.
My background includes clinical and research experience working with individuals navigating body image distress and related concerns across several specialized programs, including the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Weight and Eating Disorders, the Duke Obesity Prevention Program, and the Duke Eating Disorders Clinic.
I also have personal experience navigating lipedema, which allows me to understand both the clinical and emotional complexities of living with a body that can feel painful, unpredictable, or misunderstood. This perspective informs how I approach this work.
I help clients step out of cycles of self-blame, body frustration, and constant searching for the “right” solution so they can feel more supported, more grounded, and less alone.
